This website has a few top-level pages that offer advice in general terms.
Then there is a single page for each species. The species-specific pages should contain this information:
- Description of the plant
- Seed collecting
- Germination
- Growing on
- Planting
- External references
The general rule is that species-specific pages have a URL that includes the botanical name (all lower case with a hyphen). So for kauri we have:
The principle URL uses the botantical name because it is unique. On the other hand, some common or maori names apply to two different species (for example, there are two “mingimingi”). And sometimes the same species has two different common names (example here please). So the primary arrangement is to use the botanical name.
However, the search feature allows searching for a plant by its common name as well as its botanical name.
