Germination
This should be a page that contains general material on germination.
Here are some of my ideas on topics to cover on this page. What is missing?
- Establishing a nursery (OK, this is such a big topic perhaps it should have its own page).
- What is required for a germination place in a nursery: shelter. light, temperature etc.
- General suggestions on seed trays and compost.
- Labelling.
- What time of year should seeds be planted?
- Germination time, especially for slow germination plants.
- General notes on watering and care for the germinating seeds.
- Record keeping.

Material for the species-specific pages
This page should contain general matters. For each species the details will vary, so on the species-specific pages it would be good if these questions could be addressed:
- Is the plant easy or difficult to germinate? What proportion of seeds might germinate?
- How should they be sown? e.g. depth, compost type, density?
- What trays or pots should be used?
- What instructions relating to moisture levels, presence or absence of light, temperature etc.
- When can they be sown?
- Should the pots or trays be covered, either for light or moisture, and if so with what and for how long?
- How long do they take to germinate, and over what time (if not all the same)?
- Photos! Different stages of the planting and germination process.
